Description / 描述:
The BioVector® RPTEC/TERT1 (human Renal Proximal Tubule Epithelial/Telomerase Reverse Transcriptase 1) cell line is a well-characterized, telomerase-immortalized human cell line derived from the proximal tubule of a healthy adult male kidney -4-10. It was established by transfecting primary renal proximal tubule epithelial cells with the human telomerase reverse transcriptase (hTERT) gene, which allows the cells to bypass replicative senescence while retaining the key morphological and functional characteristics of their primary cell counterparts -10. This results in a stable, reproducible, and physiologically relevant in vitro model of the human renal proximal tubule -5-7.

  • Primary-like Function / 类原代功能: Retains many differentiated features of primary proximal tubule cells, including response to parathyroid hormone (PTH) but not to arginine vasopressin (AVP), sodium-dependent phosphate uptake, and functional megalin/cubilin-mediated endocytosis system -4-10.

  • Barrier Integrity / 屏障完整性: Forms tight junctions and maintains a stable Trans-Epithelial Electrical Resistance (TEER) when cultured on permeable supports, demonstrating intact functional barrier -4-7.

  • Transporter Expression / 转运蛋白表达: Expresses key proximal tubule transporters and markers, such as Aminopeptidase N (CD13), γ-Glutamyl Transferase (GGT), and E-cadherin -4. Transporter expression has been shown to mature over time in culture -7.

  • Progenitor Population / 祖细胞亚群: Contains a subpopulation of cells co-expressing CD133 and CD24, which exhibit progenitor/stem cell-like properties, such as forming nephrospheres and differentiating into multiple lineages -3.
