BioVector® ST9671 strain is a genetically engineered yeast (Yarrowia lipolytica) developed for the high-level production of the plant antioxidant resveratrol and other aromatic compounds. The strain has been deposited with the Euroscarf collection under accession number Y41418.

  • Host Organism: The strain is a non-conventional yeast, Yarrowia lipolytica, derived from the parental strain ST6512.

  • Genetic Modifications: It was engineered by integrating five additional copies of the resveratrol biosynthetic genes (FjTAL, At4CL1, and VvVST1) and overexpressing feedback-insensitive alleles of the key genes in the shikimate pathway (YlARO4K221L and YlARO7G139S).

  • Function: ST9671 is a top-producing strain engineered to produce high levels of resveratrol, reaching a titer of up to 409.0 mg/L in small-scale cultivation and 12.4 g/L in a controlled fed-batch bioreactor, which was the highest reported titer for de novo resveratrol production at the time of the study.
