The UOK-120 cell line is a human renal cell carcinoma (RCC) line, derived from a primary papillary renal cell carcinoma in a 30-year-old male. It is particularly notable for carrying a t(X;1)(p11.2;q21.2) translocation that creates a PRCC-TFE3 fusion gene.
Key characteristics
Origin: Primary papillary renal cell carcinoma from a 30-year-old male.
Genetic makeup: A defining feature is the PRCC-TFE3 gene fusion resulting from a chromosomal translocation. This TFE3 fusion drives the transformed (cancerous) phenotype.
Phenotype: The UOK-120 cell line is described as having a more mesenchymal phenotype compared to other TFE3-fusion RCC lines. Its viability is highly dependent on the expression of the PRCC-TFE3 fusion protein.
