LAD2 cells are a valuable tool in mast cell research, providing a stable and well-characterized model system for studying mast cell function, allergic reactions, and the development of mast cell-related diseases.
Key characteristics:
Origin: Derived from CD34+ cells obtained from the bone marrow of a patient with aggressive mastocytosis.
Phenotype: Expresses functional FcεRI and FcγRI receptors, CD4, 9, 13, 22, 45, 64, 71, 103, 117, 132, CCR5, and CXCR4.
Growth characteristics: Requires stem cell factor (SCF) for growth and proliferates slowly.
Functional responses: Capable of degranulation in response to immunologic stimuli.
Research applications:
Allergy and immunology: Investigating the mechanisms of allergic reactions and the role of mast cells in allergic diseases.
Mast cell-related diseases: Studying the pathogenesis of mastocytosis and other mast cell-related disorders.
