pQBI-AdCMV5-IRES-GFP is a 8073 bp plasmid manufactured by Quantum Biotechnologies. It is a new vector in which we combine AutoFluorescent Proteins with the Adenovirus Expression System. In this vector the GFP (Green Fluorescent Protein) is co-expressed with the gene of interest in an IRES (Internal Ribosome Entry Site) expression cassette. In this transfer vector both the gene of interest and the GFP are under the control of the modified CMV5 promoter, for maximum expression. This arrangement allows easy visualization of the transduced cells and maximal expression levels with lower MOIs (multiplicity of infection). Moreover, the addition of the green fluorescent protein offers a unique system to accelerate the identification of Ad recombinants and to facilitate the functional characterization of genes both in vitro and in vivo by allowing easy quantification of gene transfer and expression in a non-invasive manner.
