Clostridium sp., strain L2-50 (HMP ID 0221), a butyrate-producing isolate, is a reference genome for The Human Microbiome Project (HMP). HMP is an initiative to identify and characterize human microbial flora. The complete genome of Clostridium, strain sp. L2-50 is currently being sequenced at the Genome Institute at Washington University (GenBank: AAYW00000000). Each vial contains approximately 0.5 mL of bacterial culture in 0.5X Chopped Meat Carbohydrate Medium supplemented with 10% glycerol.
