Origin:
established from the pleural effusion of a 60-year-old man with refractory immunoblastic B cell lymphoma progressed from follicular centroblastic/centrocytic lymphoma in 1990; cells were described in the literature to carry the t(14;18) leading to IGH-BCL2 fusion gene and to express BCL2 mRNA; the original culture was a mixture of EBV - and EBV + cells, of which the EBV - cells were isolated and clonally expanded. Morphology:
mostly round cells growing singly and in small clumps in suspension;


Medium:
90% RPMI 1640 + 10% h.i. FBS
Subculture:
seed out at ca. 0.5 x 106 cells/ml; maintain at 0.3-0.7 x 106cells/ml; split 1:2 every second day; after thawing, culture cells temporarily in 24-well plates
Incubation:
at 37 °C with 5% CO2
Doubling time:
ca. 40 hours
Harvest:
maximal density of about 0.7-1.0 x 106 cells/ml

frozen with 70% medium, 20% FBS, 10% DMSO
