The pSEC:Nuc plasmid contains Usp45, which enables extracellular protein secretion in Lactococcus spp.
The cell fraction of NZ9000(pSEC:Nuc) contained three Nuc forms (preNuc, NucB, and NucA), and the supernatant contained two major forms (NucB and NucA) and a faint band, which might have resulted from export of a C-terminal degradation product generated by cytoplasmic proteases.
