The active agent of BBSH 797 is the micro-organism temporarily defined as Genus novus species novus of the Coriobacteriaceae family. BBSH 797 is intended to be used as a feed additive based on its specific mycotoxin - deoxynivalenol (DON) -biotransformation activity. BBSH 797 is the first and only microorganism authorized in Europe as a substance for reduction of the contamination of feed by deoxynivalenol (technological feed additives). BBSH 797 produces a specific enzyme, so-called de-epoxidases, that bio transform the toxic deoxynivalenol in the gastrointestinal tract of the animal to a non-toxic metabolite.
